Stonier KBS Chardonnay 2021

Description

96 Points – Jane Faulkner | Very Limited Stocks

Long regarded as one of the Mornington Peninsula’s leading wineries, Stonier’s impressive range of Chardonnays are always highly sought-after. We’re delighted to have recently welcomed a small allocation of this latest Stonier KBS Chardonnay release.

The 2021 Stonier KBS Chardonnay represents the 21st bottling of this wine from an acclaimed vineyard that is now over 33 years old. This another beautifully structured and vibrant Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay opening with lovely stone fruits, dried haystacks and a floral perfume aromatics. There is a richness to the fruit, but it is restrained and held in check by the fine acidity and chalky structure to give it a savoury finish. A great example of the subtle power that this vineyard regularly delivers and superb value at this discounted price.

“96 Points. A classy KBS with fruit off the east-facing single vineyard. It comes packed with flavour, complexity and depth, yet fantastic acidity to drive this. Grapefruit, Meyer lemon and lemon balm to the fore, building on the fine palate before meeting up with a touch of delicate oak spice, nutty lees and a flourish of savouriness. Moreish and impossible to resist a 2nd glass. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2022-2031. $50″- Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023.

“95 Points A vibrant straw-gold colour gleams throughout the glass. Ripe white peaches and smoky-bacon aromas. The palate follows the same flavour profile, with the fruit and savoury elements all in abundance and showing great power and intensity. Alongside this there’s ample acidity to keep that power controlled and driving to the long finish. A big and powerful example of Mornington chardonnay.”- Stuart Knox, The Real Review.
